Presidents New Years Message
A very Happy New Year to you all and I hope you had a lovely Christmas and got everything you had hoped for. Sadly the one wish none of got was the end of covid, but, lets hope that 2022 will see us all get the chance to live life again without this dreaded pandemic.
Like all sports, rugby, suffered with the lack of activity for a long period during the initial lockdown, but as a club, we were able to change what we could control. As a result we have upgraded our clubhouse, kitchen, changing rooms and upstairs bar areas and I think we should all be very proud of the results.
These changes were only made possible because of the the generosity, kindness and good will of our members and friends of the club who donated financially or give of their time freely. But we know there is still a lot more to be done.
The improvements we have made have been carried out to increase footfall into the club to generate more income for our ultimate aim of investing in our ‘ raison d’etre ‘ which if course is rugby at all levels.
We have, at present, 3 Senior teams, a womans senior team and junior players, A youth section of U14s, U16s and U18s plus a thriving minis section.
But for all these sections to succeed and grow we need players and volunteers. To players who have decided to perhaps do other things I’ll just say don’t have any regrets in future years. Your boots will be hung up longer than they ever will be on your feet. To members if you have any spare time please think seriously about volunteering at coaching, managing or indeed for any of the numerous jobs needing fulfilled around the club.
We should not forget the role our sponsors and advertisers have made with their continued support during this past difficult period and on behalf of the club I would like to thank them.
In recent months, when restrictions allowed, it has been very satisfying to witness the number of members and friends using our facilities and in particular the groups of younger people.
We should all be very proud of our club and i encourage our members and their friends to support it through functions and the various events throughout the year and get involved to secure and grow its future.
This club is at the heart of the community. So let it be known.
So have a great 2022 and hope to see as many of you as possible at Stevenson Park.

Yours in Rugby
Brian Magowan
