DUNGANNON 14s WIN THE BATTLE OF TYRONE

DUNGANNON 14s WIN THE BATTLE OF TYRONE

21-15 AGAINST STRABANE RFC
Congratulations to our 14s on their hard won victory today. The “Colgate smiles” of the players at the end of today’s final told us how much it meant to them. I would like to thank the parents for getting behind this team. Today’s support took it to another level.

On behalf of the club I would like to acknowledge the efforts of Gerry Saunders and Ryan Ross who have coached and managed the boys since August. I’m glad to say that all of the boys have improved over this season as result of their efforts.

I also would like to acknowledge the efforts of Charlie Farrell the club CCRO who recruited a lot of new boys to this side and assisted in their development.

We can’t underestimate the efforts of our coaches to integrate so many new forwards into the team in one year. All these new players like Jamie Gildernew, Louis Houston, Samuel Cooke, Jamie Martin and Ronan McGeary have really impressed.

As well the above challenge I have to complement the coaches for coping with the challenge of creating an effective squad from under 12s, 13s and 14s. Like so many of their games this year the boys had to cope with a bigger and an older team in Strabane. It takes a lot of resilience and courage from boys to take on guys several inches taller and maybe 20 kilos plus heavier.

Best of luck to all of the players and coaches in their quest for further success in the Limerickfest, Malone International and Terenure European Tournaments which will be held over the next two weeks.
