From the off Dungannon penned Enniskillen inside their 22 until a kick clearance was taken out of the air by Sheehan Fay who carried and kicks back over the heads of the on rushing defence who in a desperate scramble to get back, knock the ball on.
Skins push early in the Scrum and give away a free kick. Cormac Drayne reacts first, taps and sends the ball through the hands of Zac Holmes to Ben Hughes who straightens his run and cuts back against the drifting Skins defence. This wrong footed them for Ben to continue his run and score in the corner. Conversion missed 5-0
The second try came from a Skins line out on the half way. Enniskillen catch and carry but Sam Cooke tackles the ball carrier to the ground whilst Dungannon’s Senan Nugent and Daniel Kelso ruck them off the ball which is picked up by Brooklyn Fletcher at 8 and carried hard into the Skins 22 before he is tackled. Luck Curran rucks to protect the ball as Dungannon recycle and keep going with strong carries by prop Jake Simpson and flanker Jamie Gildernew before the Dungannon scum half Cormac Drayne picks and goes, offloads to out half Zac Holmes who draws the last defender before slipping the ball to second centre Michael O’Niell to go over in the corner. Conversion missed 10-0
The third try came in the middle of the second half by flanker Adam Kelly number 6. It came from a Skins penalty in the middle of the pitch. Enniskillen kick for touch but don’t make it and the ball is caught and carried back by Cormac Drayne. Cormac off loads to prop Jake Simpson who carries hard before offloading to Adam Kelly who breaks through 4 attempted tackles whilst running 40m to score under the posts which Cormac converts 17-0
The fourth try comes from a Dungannon Scrum in the Skins 22. Dungannon set up to attack off the left side of the Scrum but Brooklyn Fletcher at 8 picks and goes right, beats the Skins flanker and draws the Skins winger before off loading to Scrum half Cormac Drayne to outpace the Skins full back to score. With a successful conversion Cormac takes the score to 24-0
The fifth and final try came in the last few minutes of play from a Dungannon kick that Skins fail to deal with and results in a Scrum to Dungannon in the Skins 22. From the Scrum Brooklyn Fletcher picks and goes and off loads to flanker Jamie Gildernew who on his first run out for Dungannon drops his shoulder and smashes his way through several Skins defenders to slide in over the whitewash. With the score at 29-0 Cormac adds the extras as the referee blew his whistle to endthe game 31-0
There was obviously a lot more action throughout this game involving each and every player that didn’t end in a try but prevented Enniskillen from putting points on the board. Joey Clarke and Sam Taylor and Mathew Loan put in some amazing tackles on the Enniskillen number 13 who was a big unit and hard to stop but stop him they did.
Jake Simpson had a try that was disallowed after he powered his way to the line dragging with him several Enniskillen defenders who brought him down just short of the whitewash. As he eventually reached for the line the referee judged that moment to be a double movement and awarded Skins a Scrum which they successfully won and cleared the danger.
Conor O’Neill, Hayden Godfrey and Jamie Martin put in an honest shift when they made an appearance in the second half and were instrumental in us keeping a clean sheet and without replacements a team would find it hard to compete at this level so well done to everyone who played their part.
Man of the match on this occasion goes to Captain Brooklyn Fletcher who carried as hard as he hit whilst keeping the team motivated and disciplined.
