Dungannon Seconds were taught a lesson by Queens University at Stevenson Park on Saturday. The lively students started on the front foot with prop Ben Quigg diving over after a quickly taken penalty. Stuart Martin added a second with Daniel Keane converting. Dungannon hit back to apply pressure on the Queens line. However, despite the promptings of Stephen Donaghy and Matthew Calvert the visitors’ defence held firm. In the second quarter, Matt Borne and Ross Fallows added tries to send the students 26 points clear. Dungannon bounced back and Andrew Lee touched down following a superb cross kick to make it 5-26 at the break.
Dungannon kept the momentum going and Cameron Steenson dived over on 50 minutes. That said Queens raised their game in the final quarter with tries per Simon McMaster, Nicky Woods and Quigg to leave the final score at 10-45.
