The second strings of both Clubs met in an early kick off with the Rainey team getting revenge for an early season defeat at the hands of Timmy Smith’s team. Dungannon lit up the scene on the 10th minute when Andrew Lee raced clear for Adam Evans to convert. Rainey hit back and Daniel O’Neill closed the gap with a try in the corner. Going into the second quarter Lee almost added a second but was halted by a superb tackle. Instead, it was Ryan Kearans who put Rainey ahead when he touched on 35 minutes claiming a full seven pointer. The half ended 7-12.
On 45 minutes Matthew Calvert brought the sides level, 12-12, when he burst through at the corner. However, Rainey raised their game in the final quarter with Gareth Hall and Kieran Lynch both adding tries, one of which was converted to leave the final score 12-24.
