Academy

05 October 2015

Although Dungannon’s philosophy is to be all inclusive and provide high level rugby coaching to all regardless of age or ability we are conscious of our reputation for consistently developing players that go on to play at the highest level. Indeed, it is our responsibility to provide our most promising players with the resources to enable them to develop and meet their potential.

“The Academy” is a unique high performance pathway for a small group of the most talented and gifted players drawn from a cross section of schools in the greater Dungannon area. These players train and play within our youth structure and have been selected for The Academy because of their superior technical and physical attributes as well as their desire to achieve excellence.

Star Talent

Dungannon currently has 3 former Academy players: Paddy Jackson, Craig Gilroy and Chris Cochrane. Craig was not previously on a high performance pathway but was spotted, developed and promoted up as a result of his performances at Dungannon RFC. Both Paddy and Craig have since gone on to represent Ireland, with Craig scoring on his International debut against Argentina and Paddy starting his career against Scotland in the Six Nations Championship. Both players are now key members of the Ulster and Ireland squads.
